Compared to talent, persistence is a modest virtue. But it's an essential one. Without it, talents will never see the light of day. Einstein persisted and stayed with problems longer to make sure he found exactly what he was looking for. He once said Its not that Im so smart, its just that I stay with problems longer.
While we are on the way towards achieving our goals, there will be times when things seems to be working against us - times when things don't go according to plan. As a result, too many people give up before they reach their goals because they have wrong expectations of the outcome. They expect things to be easy, and they are surprised when they find the reality to be the opposite. Persistence, has a lot to do with your success in life, business, fitness, love and recreation.
Like trekking the Inca Trail, persistence is enjoying the journey that lies between where you are now and where you are going
One
of the greatest surprises you'll experience,
is when you discover that with persistence you
can do what you were afraid you couldn't do.
Whether you want to learn how to dance tango,
play tennis or start your online business, persistence
always wins! Your obstacles will melt away,
if instead of waiting before them, you make
up your mind to press on and walk boldly through
them. When you face the things
that scare you, you discover the true meaning
of persistence:
We've all heard the expression "If at first you don't succeed try, try again". Most people fail because of lack of persistence. If something doesn't work they quit and do something else. Persistence allows us to keep taking action even when we dont feel motivated to do so, and therefore we keep working towards our goals.
Thomas Edisons persistence was exemplified in his famous quote, Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken spent two years driving across the United States looking for restaurants to buy his recipe. He was turned down over 1000 times! Many people were happy to retire at 65 but Colonel Sanders said no and created a globally known fast food empire.
Regardless of what our dreams may be, and no matter how big or small they are, we are all on a journey of becoming the person we want to be. We all want happiness, success, fitness and prosperity. But, watching TV or spending time on social media isn't as useful as ten minutes spent exercising. We have to take action so we can start making a difference.
We have within us the ability to bring our vision into physical existence - a vision inspires action. If we're clear about what we want in such a way that our vision doesn't change much, we'll be more persistent in our actions. Persistence of action comes from persistence of vision. And that persistence of action will bring our dreams and vision into physical existence.
Our actions -- how we think, how we speak, how we spend our time -- those things all add up. When we eliminate distractions and take persistent action, it inspires us to commit, to endure and give our best. The decision to persist, to make progress, day by day during 100 days, even when we dont feel like it, will produce consistency of results in our happiness, success, fitness and prosperity. It takes about 100 days to develop persistence - every day matters to live a disciplened and successful life.
