The Core Challenge - 100 Days to Look and Feel Your Best!

Week Eleven - Live a Prosperous Life

Most exercises in Calorie Blast can be performed as aerobic (burn fat) or anaerobic (burn mainly carbohydrates) the terms simply refer to the energy pathway required. For example walking is easy and a good aerobic exercise but if we increase the effort the body moves faster, eventually we end up running which then uses the anaerobic energy pathway. The Anaerobic pathway means oxygen uptake becomes insufficient for fat to continue to be the main fuel source. This is achieved when you follow the advanced level of Calorie Blast.

Your Goal for This Week
Aerobic exercise like walking or swimming will burn a greater percentage of body fat. Aerobic exercise is an effective way to lose fat only if you are motivated enough to workout frequently, aerobics only burns fat during the workout so if you want encouraging results you need to be able to exercise daily and for longer periods. The health benefits you gain from these type of exercise are:
  • Help control weight.
  • Lower blood pressure.
  • Increased endurance.
  • The heart enlarges.
  • Limits the chances of developing many common illness and diseases.
  • Reduced risks in developing diabetes and other diseases.
  • Help in coping with all other emotional and psychological stress.
  • Increase in good cholesterol, decrease in bad cholesterol.

Anaerobic exercise is a great way to gain strength and feel better about yourself and your self-discipline. The results are gratifying and are due to you—and you alone! You are the master of your own destiny with anaerobic exercises. Anaerobic exercise burns more calories than aerobic exercise because each movement generates more force from the cells. However, when muscle cells contract with more force they switch to using carbohydrates as the main energy source. This type of exercise may seem incorrect for weight loss but in fact it helps produce an adaptive response with a side effect of an increased metabolic rate. During periods of rest the cells accelerate the fat burning process and this speeds up your metabolism.

Basically, the more muscle you have, the more calories those muscles will burn throughout the course of the day. Keep building those muscles by performing anaerobic exercises at least 2-4 times each week and you'll get that metabolism revving!

  • Strengthens bones and prevents osteoporosis
  • Hardens joints and builds your body against potential injuries.
  • Increases your energy by building bigger muscles
  • Increases Sports Performance by helping build muscles that will ultimately help improve your game.
  • Lowers Blood Sugar The primary destination for the sugar (glycogen) we consume is the muscle. For people already with an active lifestyle this sugar is either burned immediately or simply stored for future use as fuel.
  • Recaptures Youth - After we hit 40, the body can lose upwards of six pounds of muscle every ten years. Turn back the clock by acquiring and maintaining the same muscle mass you had in your early twenties. Anaerobic exercises will help you build back this muscle and increase your energy level and overall health in the process!
